We are a diverse group of believers – bankers, musicians, social workers, teachers, public servants, business owners, parents – united by our shared faith in a loving God.
W.E.B. Du Bois used the term “the talented tenth” to describe the
likelihood of one in ten black men becoming leaders of their race in the
world, through methods such as continuing their education, writing
books, or becoming directly involved in social change. He believed
they needed a classical liberal education to reach their true destiny as
what would in the 20th century be called public intellectuals:
We want to develop gifted young people who will live exceptionally
and lead by example. They will use their God given gifts to uplift
people uphold, principles and upgrade everyone they come in contact
with. When they have done that, they will be remembered for leaving
people better than you found them.
I count it an honor to have the opportunity to nurture these special gifted children.
